Icatibant/HOE I40 is a drug used to treat hereditary angioedema (HAE). It is a selective peptide B2 receptor antagonist that reduces vascular permeability and inflammatory response by inhibiting B2 receptor activation, thereby reducing symptoms in HAE patients. Icatibant/HOE I40 is an injection usually used during an acute attack of HAE. Its chemical name is (2 r, 3 s) - N - [(2 s) - 2 - [[(2 r) - 2 - [[(2 s) - 2 - [[(2 r) - 2 - amino - 3 - (4 - hydroxyphenyl) propanoyl] amino] propanoyl] amino] propanoyl] amino]-3-phenylpropanoyl] -3,3-dihydroxybutanediamide, the formula is C59H89N19O13, molecular weight is 1304.48.
Function
Etemant is a potent and selective bradykinin B2 receptor and antagonist. Etemant treats embolic swelling in acute HAE by inhibiting the effects of bradykinin associated with embolic swelling, inflammation, and pain symptoms.
Etemant is a selective competitive antagonist of bradykinin B2 receptor with affinity similar to bradykinin. Hereditary angioedema is caused by the absence or dysfunction of C1-esterase-inhibitor, bradykinin, a vasodilator, which is thought to be responsible for localized Chemicalbook distension, inflammation, and pain that are characteristic of HAE. Etheimant can inhibit bradykinin binding to B2 receptor to treat acute onset of HAE. In addition, it has potential treatment indications such as asthma, liver cirrhosis and other types of angioedema.
