Gonarelline is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), also known as luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH), secreted in the body by the hypothalamus, it can stimulate the anterior pituitary gland to secrete gonadotropin, namely follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). LH can promote male interstitial synthesis and secretion of androgens. The dual action of LH and FSH can promote female ovary synthesis and secretion of estrogen.

1. It is used to diagnose hypothalamic-pituitary-gonad dysfunction.2. To treat infertility caused by amenorrhea, gonadotropin deficiency and polyfollicular ovary.3. Gonarelline or its relatives Buserrelin, goserrelin, lepraline, nafarelline and triprelline are also used for contraception, cryptorchidism, malignancies (especially prostate cancer), delayed and early puberty.4.
