Ghk-cu (Copper Glycyl-histidine-tripeptide) is a compound that combines Glycyl histidine tripeptide (GHK) with Copper. It is named blue Copper peptide/blue Copper peptide because its aqueous solution is blue. It is a small molecule copper peptide complex naturally existing in human plasma, urine, saliva and cerebrospinal fluid.In experimental rabbit wounds, GHK alone or in combination with high-dose He-ne laser improved wound contraction and granular tissue formation, as well as increased antioxidant enzyme activity and stimulated vascular growth. Ghk-cu improved the healing of ischemic open wounds in rats, with faster wound healing and reduced concentrations of MMP2 and MMP9 as well as TNF-β, a major inflammatory cytokine, compared with control or untreated wounds.
